Best Mexican Restaurant
DESCRIPTION: My husband and I have tried many Mexican restaurants in Eugene, Springfield and Corvallis and even though they have had good write ups, they don't compare with El Tapatio in Corvallis. It has the best food, best people and by far, the best margaritas we have ever had. You'll never regret becoming a regular here!

Good sushi
DESCRIPTION: Aomatsu is the only sushi restaurant in the Corvallis-Albany area; fortunately, it's pretty good. I don't care for the raw fish menu items, but my husband and friends tell me they're good. The California rolls (rice, seaweed, crab and avocado) are excellent, and so are the Corvallis rolls (a California roll plus cooked eel). The tempura is OK, but the only real reason to order it is if a bunch of sushi-loving friends drag you in, and you don't really like sushi. The only real complaint I have about Aomatsu is that its hours stink. It's open for lunch, then closed from (I think) 2 to 5 p.m. Sometimes we'd like to have a late lunch, or pick up dinner early; it's frustrating that Aomatsu is closed in the afternoon. Also, they are closed Sundays and Mondays.

Poor service, good sushi
DESCRIPTION: This is a revision to my earlier review. We had mostly used Aomatsu for take-out, not eat-in. In the last few months, we've eaten at Aomatsu on several occasions. The service is really poor. Last night, our order was brought in several installments -- first our California rolls, then about 15 minutes later my tempura came, then another 15 minutes later, my husband got the rest of the sushi he had ordered. This is just an example; it's happened more than once (if it were only once, I would assume they were having a tough night, and let it go). Some members of the waitstaff are surly, though most of them are very nice. I assume the reason for the bad service is that Aomatsu is very busy and, apparently, understaffed. That's too bad, but it doesn't make it OK. I would recommend getting takeout if you're in Corvallis and have a jones for sushi. If you eat in at Aomatsu, be ready for long waits and waitresses who are too stressed to be friendly.

DESCRIPTION: This place has really yummy food, but the service stinks. It has a beautiful interior, but I would still recommend getting your food to go. As far as cost goes, we got two entrees and some sushi for $25.

THE ONLY THING THAT SMELLS LIKE FISH IS THE SERVICE
DESCRIPTION: If you are lookin' for sushi.. this is about it. But you are in luck, the food is fantastic. The food is presented well and even has 3 or 4 grills for the chefs to twirl and whirl their magic in front of your eyes. If you are not a fan of sushi but got dragged into the fun...there are still ton of choices that will fit your fancy. The only disappointment is the hit-or-miss w/ the service. Out of 4 times of us being there...we have had good service once. As others have mentioned, you can sometimes get your meal in spirts...lil' there, lil' here. But overall, it was worth it cuz the food was wonderful. This isnt a cafe, so dont expect to be cheap.

Mediocre and overpriced
DESCRIPTION: Best sushi in Corvallis? It's the ONLY sushi in Corvallis. The service is quite bad. The servers are either not friendly or agonizingly inexperienced, slow and clueless. As for the sushi. My girlfriend and I have eaten at many quality sushi places all over and this place is just below-average. Then, they charge you as if this food is "the bomb". I consider a place having good sushi when you must close your eyes and you can't think of anything else except the bite you just took. This is simply not the case with Aomatsu. Its a shame that the only place in Corvallis rides on the fact that they are the ONLY sushi place in Corvallis. The quality is mediocre and the food is waaaay overpriced for what you get. Did I mention the service is quite bad? Still, I go here when I'm desperate and there's nowhere else to go in Corvallis and I want some kind of sushi fix. If you want to be blown-away by quality sushi, I recommend driving west to the coast at Seal Rock or north to Portland with Mio Sushi or Saburo. Or when in California, hit up many places in SF, LA, or Santa Barbara. Chris

DESCRIPTION: I had my 21st birthday party there, so that those over 21 could drink if they wanted, but my younger friends could still come! They have such great food, if you're just looking for a sit-down American-food-style place, they are less expensive and more tasty than Ruby Tuesday's. The service is a little slow and not overly friendly, but it's worth it for the food and atmosphere!

DESCRIPTION: The food is consistently good but the service is just way sub par. I don't expect anyone to kiss my a** or smile when I'm being rude- but I do expect friendly and accomodating service. The servers are very chilly. Still, if you have good friends and don't mind unhappy service, it's not such a bad choice- i mean, it's conducive to a nice night of beer and conversation. The burgers are much better than any of the cold options and the burritos are worth skipping.

DESCRIPTION: McMennamins is an OK place to go for a drink or appetizers, but only so-so if you're thinking of having a meal there. The service is usually pretty slow and if you try to go on a Friday night, you'll be waiting a long time for a table. Also, the food prep is not consistent. It depends on who is cooking that particular night. Sometimes it's pretty good, sometimes it's disappointing. Appetizers and drinks are usually good. They sell their own beers, so the selection is limited, but the beer is pretty good.

Some of the finest food in the Northwest
DESCRIPTION: Our experience with Intaba's never ceases to amaze us. Their menu features local pasture raised meats, wild seafood, wood fired pizza, and some awesome desserts! And the ambiance is incredible, with adobe walls, a ten-foot high wood fired clay oven and soft pastel painted walls.

Decent Hippy Food
DESCRIPTION: Offering some hearty dishes with a lot of whole grains. The food is good, but not exceptional, and it seems to be a little overpriced for what it is. That said, the waitstaff is attentitive and they have a nice atmosphere.

Excellent food and great atmoshphere
DESCRIPTION: Although this restaurant may be a little more pricey than most in the Corvallis area it is by far one of the best restaurants I have ever dined at. Their food blends a mixture of northwestern flair with locally grown produce and allows for a delicious meal. The atmosphere is also very welcoming and comfortable for large or small parties.

DESCRIPTION: For the price it really isnt worth it. I went twice, the first time ordering the calzone, and the second time getting the lamb. I would rather have the calzone from my dorm any day and the lamb was also dissapointing. However a lot of people I know really like the restaurant. shrug.

The Best
DESCRIPTION: I used to work at the bakery and can tell you from all of my travels that it has some of the best baked goods in the country. It is great. I am often amazed when I look around me and think of what a great place you all have in commarison with places in Houston and Austin. I think you are the best.

DESCRIPTION: I was born and raised in Corvallis and I can remember as a little girl being so excited to go there and have my chocolate crackle cookie. (This was before any expansion was made.) We moved but came back to visit grandma on several occasions, each time making New Morning a priority "MUST GO TO." With all the variety and freshness of the EVERYTHING, you can't go wrong at this wonderful venue. Casual, comfortable and great for all ages.

Not Family Friendly
DESCRIPTION: We were really disappointed by the New Morning bakery (on 2nd st. in Corvallis) today. We had three moms and a dad in our party, with three toddlers and two babies. We probably spent about $50.00 on food. At one point, as toddlers tend to do, they got loud, for about 20 seconds. The owner of the New Morning Bakery came over and asked if we would take all the kids outside (onto the sidewalk) until they calmed down. At this point the kids were already quiet. Who the heck asks you to take all your children out of a restaurant, a cafeteria style one at that? I'm never eating there again and want people to know that they shouldn't expect a family friendly atmosphere if they eat there.

Dining At New Morning
DESCRIPTION: I have eaten many meals at The New Morning Bakery. Being a mom of two small children it's a great place to stop in and grab a quick bite. I have noticed a trend with fellow patrons and their children. They don't seem to watch them and let their noise level become very distrubing. I wish that people who take children out to eat would pay attention to their childrens needs so that they don't feel it necessary to become so distrupted to everyone around them. I appreciate when an establishment cares enough to say something.

If you like long lines, blah food, and bussing and cleaning your tables, NMB is for you...
DESCRIPTION: My wife and I went to NMB a few months back and were definitely underwhelmed by the lunch fare and service. We decided to give them another try last week. Pros: 1) The cakes and other desserts look delicious. 2) Seating is pleasant enough, if you ignore all the signs in tacky plastic ("bus your table", "buy cakes for mother's day", "buy cakes for graduation", etc.) Cons: 1) Long lines 2) Must wait at end of line to pick up food (my soup was cold by the time my panini was done...) 3) Food is pre-made (e.g., the quiche is re-heated in a microwave, decimating any flakiness the crust may have once had), and can't be customized (e.g., you can't hold the mayo) 4) Food isn't that great: black bean soup was watery, salads are small (and nothing special) for the price, panini was dripping and falling apart... 5) Unfriendly ambience: multiple signs on front door were offputting ("we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone", "restrooms for customers only", "water for customers only", etc.) 6) You must clean your table with provided spray bottle (!) and bus your dishes when finished. 7) The owner was yelling at the staff in front of customers.

NOT impressed.
DESCRIPTION: I've only been for the Sunday buffet, but my brother and I who are BIG thai food fans were not very impressed, as every dish offered included big huge chunks of tofu, that weren't well cooked, and overall, I've just eaten better Thai. If you're in Corvallis and have a hankering for Thai, try TarnTip. The staff was friendly but not very attentive.

DESCRIPTION: Ive been to a lot of Thai restaurants and the only thai worse than this place was one in Eugene. I would suggest the thai place on 26th and Monroe, way over this one.
