What a horrible place!
DESCRIPTION: While taking our daughters to a breakfast on the Plaza, we thought we'd stop and see what this place was all about. After waiting 30 minutes to be seated, we were virtually ignored. Someone brought us water and then left. We tried to signal three waiters, but to no avail. We got up and left because the service is so terrible!

Great & Amazing
DESCRIPTION: Next to the Bar-B-Q in KC I travel about 500 miles and this is the best pizza anywhere. Area dining guides often name d'Bronx one of the best delis not just in this town, but in any town in the country. Ask d'Bronx devotees why, and you'll get answers as varied as their appetites. Some swear it's the near-perfect reuben, or one of the other sandwiches hot off the grill. Other folks will tell you it's the d'Bronx sub, a cold sandwich mix of meats and cheeses, or one of the 20 other subs on the menu. More than a couple people insist it's the deli-style pizza, available by the slice or by the pie (up to a 30-inch monster size). Even vegetarians find lots to rave about. And pretty much everyone agrees that the apple pie is a good way to finish off a meal. Figure in the reasonable prices and the big-city deli atmosphere of the 39th Street location, and you've got the makings of a winner.

Almost Like Home
DESCRIPTION: Growing up in Queens, NY, I got to eat some of the best pizza in the world. I've traveled to many countries and many states since then and this is the closest I've had to real New York Pizza. The atmosphere is just like home. If your looking for a Fancy place this isn't it. If you want great food it is.

Fantastic!
DESCRIPTION: I recently ate at Figlio on the Plaza and had a wonderful meal. The special pasta was a roasted chicken with mushrooms in a creamy tomato sauce, topped with goat cheese and fried capers. It was fantastic! We also enjoyed a bottle of their wine of the month, Furmulae Merlot.

Manny's is Rude
DESCRIPTION: We made a reservation for a large group. We went over our estimate by 6 people - this was a funeral dinner. There were plenty of tables near our area, but the owners daughter who was in charge was very flustered. She told us we have more than we called for and when we asked her "what do you want us to do leave?", she stated, "if you want to". She was very nasty when she said it. In a customer service environment the least she could have said was something to the effect that, "you have more people than we expected, but we will try to accomodate you. But she just didn't want to hassle with us. As I stated this was a family's funeral dinner, a traditional one in our family that is always held at Manny's when a member of our family passes away. We will never go there again.

ugh and ew
DESCRIPTION: This was a large and dirty resteraunt. It was like a carpeted warehouse, and not at all in the fun and funky style of some large resteraunts. It smelled like sewage the entire time, and as far as I know, we were no where near the restroom. The food was over cooked and dry. It was dark, dirty, and just plain ew.

A REAL review
DESCRIPTION: I'm disappointed to see the previous two reviews on this page - please don't acknowledge them as pure fact - as a lifelong KC resident, Manny's has been and probably will always be not only mine, but the majority of the city population's favorite mexican restaurant. While the service doesn't cater to your every whim, it's efficient and pleasant. Water glasses are generally always refilled and if you need anything you'll get it. The food is outstanding - typical Americanized Mexican, but done so much better than the standard chain-type mexican restaurant. You can find something that suits any need - heat-o-philes should try the Fajita Taco dish, with the muy caliente salsa that accompanies it. I can honestly say I've never been disappointed by a meal at Manny's. The "ugh and ew" person must not have eaten at the Manny's I have, because it's a clean, well-decorated (if not a bit cliche) restaurant, and I've not once encountered a "sewage" smell. It's also well lit and, like I said before, clean. To justify my opinion, I tend to be one of those "snobby people" when it comes to food and dining - and Manny's doesn't disappoint. Overall, I definitely think anyone in the KC area who likes mexican food should try Manny's. Just make sure you're ready for a bit of a wait - it's ALWAYS busy.

Try it!! You'll like it!!
DESCRIPTION: We were in KC taking our Acura for a recall and had the day to explore... We ended up downtown hitting antique stores. Went by Manny's... saw many people coming and going and thought.. why not.. let's try it. We knew absolutely NOTHING about this restaurant, other than it was of Mexican cuisine. We walked in right on the lunch hour, waited about 15 minutes with many many people and they hustled people in and to a table as quick as possible. The food was absolutely fantastic. There was no way I could eat it all. The service was exceptional and we will definitely be back. It was a very pleasant experience and I highly recommend it to anyone. We talked between ourselves, and decided that it had to be family ran business because you just can't hire people to give that kind of service!!
