New delight in dining
DESCRIPTION: Different style of dining in the town, fine dining yet casual dress and quite friendly atmosphere. The food is prepared fresh and as you wait. Wait staff is professional and courteous. The decor was done in an amazing delightful design and the landscaping is to be admired and enjoyed if you sit on the porch or inside while eating or just sipping a coffee. The Rainbow River with its boaters and tubers passing by can only help create a relaxed atmosphere for the guests.

DESCRIPTION: Reknown locally for the best catfish in the area, although I've never gotten that far on the menu. Starting with the appetizers I can never pass up the alligator . . . prepared perfectly. The most popular entrees are the catfish and alligator steaks. I personally prefer the crabmeat stuffed flounder or the weekend prime rib while my wife never misses the fried oysters when in season. Tim Channel owns the place which is right on the lazy (and typical Florida)river where Captain Mike runs sightseeing excursions upon request. Tim's Mom makes the pecan pie . . . one of the best short of Stuckey's.

Outstanding Catfish!
DESCRIPTION: Mississippi and Alabama claim catfish as their own "invention"...neither holds a candle to Stumpknockers. Absolutely the best catfish I've ever tasted.

DESCRIPTION: We were staying at the Hilton Hotel in Dec. and I asked a local where a good place to eat is and he recommended Stumpknockers, and it was great! I had the frog legs. It was a lot better than the ones I eat in Louisiana a few days before visiting family. We hope to come eat there sometime again soon.

DESCRIPTION: We went from Gainesville to Stumpkockers for lunch today and guess what? They are only open after 4:00 pm. Just so anyone else might want to know! Because of the word of mouth raves about the resturant, we do plan to visit again some day, after 4:oo.

Great Dining Getaway...
DESCRIPTION: Stumpknockers Restaurant on the Withlacooche River on Route 200 is near perfect in our estimation of wonderful places to eat. The restaurant location on the river's banks adds greatly to the real outdoor feel of Florida and has tour boat rides if one so desires. The food and many choices are much appreciated and the older waitresses know good service. As a final note, their fried mushrooms are FANTASTIC with a glass of wine.

Unknowledgeable Staff re: Handwashing
DESCRIPTION: I am a registered nurse and a frequent subway sandwich buyer. I have been recently turned off by the Subway staff-not washing hands properly. They wear gloves (most of the time) and then they use the same gloves to do the cash and then continue making subs with gloves that have touched dirty money and other equipment in the store. I have even seen employees just rinsing their hands with water (no soap) and just putting the gloves on with soaking wet hands. It's absolutely disgusting! I have often made comments politely to employees. They often get offended. I'm sorry but if I'm paying for the food I want it to be clean. I'm actually quite curious what the employer teaches the employee. It may not be the employees fault after all. Being a nurse, I may be more petty than the average Joe. But if the average Joe knew the diseases and germs that can be spread from lack of hand washing they would feel the same way. Thanks, Nicole Thompson
